Steven Llanusa

Biographical Sketch

Steven Llanusa  is a classroom teacher who had been the Technology Coordinator at a Science Magnet/Technology Academy school in San Bernardino County. A teacher for over 30 years, he also developed math and science curriculum for the NASA STEP program.

He and his husband, Glenn Miya, have lived in Claremont since 1995. They are the parents of Alex, Aaron, and Eric who went to Condit, attended El Roble, and graduated from Claremont High.

Mr. Llanusa received a bachelor's degree from UCLA and holds an M.A. in education. He has served as secretary of the Condit PFA, board member of the El Roble PFA, first vice-president of the CHS PFA, and member of the district's Asset Advisory Committee. Other district activities include serving as the School Board Liaison to the Claremont Educational Foundation (CEF), Claremont After School Program (CLASP), Los Angeles County Student Trustee Association, and a member of the California School Board Association’s Delegate Assembly.

In 2012, Mr. Llanusa was selected as a Union Bank Local Community Hero and honored along with his family. Mr. Llanusa's community activities include membership in the Claremont Coordinating Council, Friends of the Claremont Library the Claremont Chamber of Commerce, the Claremont League of Women Voters, and Claremont Kiwanis as a liaison to the Claremont High School Key Club and San Antonio High School Key Club.
